About Vincent Eugene "Gene" Knoy, 91, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away Friday, September 28, 2012 in Rushville.

He was born on April 25, 1921 in Monrovia, IN. to Ralph & Hazel (Bryant) Knoy. Gene married Phyllis Stewart on September 19, 1942 and she preceded him in death on February 18, 2009.

Gene was a Rushville High School graduate in 1939. He was a Rush County farmer his entire life and drove a school bus for 30 years. He was a 60 + year member of the Raleigh Christian Church where he served as Sunday school teacher and Elder, was a past 4H leader, Rush County Fair Board treasurer and honorary Director, active in the Indiana State Fair Association where he served as President in 1991 and was inducted into the Indiana Association of County & District Fairs. He was very active in the Grundy Mountain Mission, spending nearly 30 Thanksgiving's with them. Gene was a Sgt. in the US Army. He served from 1942-1945 during WW2.

He is survived by a son, Stephen & wife Patti Knoy of Indianapolis, a daughter, Dana & husband Joe Conde of Arlington, sisters, Betty Wilson of Fairview and Marjorie Huber of Rushville, sister & brother-in-law, Robert & Mary Lou Veatch of Arlington, 5 grandchildren, 2 step grandsons, 7 great grandchildren and 1 step great
granddaughter.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gene was preceded in death by brothers, Ishmail & Bill Knoy.

Services will be held at 11 AM Friday, October 5 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville, where friends are welcome to visit from 4-8 Thursday evening. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery where the Rushville Veteran's Honor Guard will provide graveside military rites. Tony Augsburger will preside.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Raleigh Christian Church.
