About | Virginia M. Rogers, 95, of Manilla, passed away Monday, Feb. 9, 2015, at Major Hospital in Shelbyville. She was born Aug. 10, 1919, to David Bailey and Marguerite (Sipe) Bailey in Shelby County. Survivors include her daughter, Barbara Kuhn and husband Nile of Homer; sister, Norma Kromer of Brentwood, Tennessee; five grandchildren, Nathan Shuppert, Alisha Luckenbill, Warren and wife Gina Shuppert, Sam Adams, Nick Rogers and Spencer Hill; and six great-grandchildren, Jaeda, Avrie, Jonah, Harper, Bailey and Olive. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Warren Bailey; and son, Robert D. Rogers. Mrs. Rogers was a lifetime resident of the area. She lived in Manilla for over 60 years. She graduated from Manilla High School in 1937, and also was a graduate of Indiana Business College in Indianapolis. Mrs. Rogers was a secretary at Manilla High School for several years. She also worked in the administrative office and cafeteria at Rushville Consolidated High School. She retired from the school corporation at age 85. She was a member of Arlington Christian Church and of Manilla Town and Country Home Economics Club. Virginia loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking, painting, playing bingo and watching all levels of basketball. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 12, 2015, at Glenn E. George & Son Funeral Home, 437 Amos Road, Shelbyville, IN 46176. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at the funeral home, with Pastor Dena Vittorio officiating. Burial will be at Manilla Cemetery in Manilla. Memorial contributions may be given to Rush County Victims Assistance or RCHS Athletic Fund in care of the funeral home. |
