About | Walter L. Nighbert, 87, Anderson, passed away April 14, 2008 at Rush Memorial Hospital in Rushville after an extended illness. He was born Oct. 2, 1920, in Milroy, the son of Walter R. and Bonnie C. (Reese) Nighbert. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1938 and then moved to Anderson. He retired in 1974 from Guide Lamp after 35 years. Walter was a member of United Auto Workers Local 663. He is survived by three sisters, Joan (husband, Frank) Edwards of Rushville, Virginia Hileman of Rushville and Doris (husband, Richard) Stewart of Forrest, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Olive Nighbert; sisters, Pauline Schoettmer, Mildred Brown, Annie Nighbert, Wilma Nighbert, Genevia Wall and Irene Click; and a brother, Kenneth Hileman. Services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at Brown-Butz-Diedring Funeral Home with Pastor Mick Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Anderson Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. |
