About | William K. Houk, 71, of Rushville, passed away Sunday, September 9, 2012, in Rushville after a long illness. Bill was born October 1, 1940 in Gary, Indiana, the son of Louise (Lukach) and Kenneth Houk. He was a 1958 graduate of Crown Point High School, a 1962 graduate of Manchester College and earned a master's degree from Indiana University. He married Ruth Reyling on January 11, 1966 and she survives. They had resided in Rushville since 1968. Bill was a long-time teacher at Rushville Consolidated High School and coached football, basketball and baseball for many years. He was an avid golfer, member of the local Elks Lodge #1307 and spent many years cheering for his beloved Chicago Cubs and Bears. In addition to his wife, Ruth Reyling Houk, of Rushville, he is survived by a son, Rodney K. Houk of Atlanta, a daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Tim Porter of Atlanta, a sister, Linda Houk Butts of Surprise, AZ and grandchildren, Sam, Teddy, Anna and Rose Porter, all of Atlanta. Services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday, September 14, at Moster Mortuary in Rushville where friends are welcome to visit from 4 until 8 PM Thursday. There will be an Elk's Memorial Service on Thursday evening at 7 PM. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery and Rev. Jeremy Greis will preside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation. |
