| About | William E. Floyd, 82, of Rushville, passed away Feb. 20, 2011. Bill was born June 4, 1928 in Ripley County, the son of the late William A. Floyd and Georgia Julia (Druy) Smith. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1946 and married Dorotha Bean Jan. 2, 1950; she preceded him in death July 18, 1994. He married Christine Smiley Jan. 6, 1996; she also preceded him in death Jan. 15, 2010. As a US Navy veteran, Bill served on two of the four Iowa class battleships during the post-war era of World War II. He worked as a general contractor and was a master cabinet maker. Memberships included the VFW, American Legion and the Elks Lodge in Kessimee, Fla. He is survived by son, William "Bill" (Tammy) Floyd of Rushville; daughters, Barbara Jo (Randy) Snepp of Ohio, Sue (Dick) Dirrim of Fort Wayne and Terri Lynn (Robert) Macy of Arlington; step daughters, Debbie (Brett) Burge of Mays and Barb Johnson of Rushville; sister, Hazel Ruth Kinkade of Anderson; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by son, John Floyd; brother, Max Floyd; and three grandchildren. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Todd Funeral Centre and Crematory, Rushville. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral center.
