About | William P. "Bill" Willey Jr., 90, of Charlottesville, passed away May 30, 2010. Born Dec. 23, 1919 in Rush County, he was the son of the late William Parker and Leila (Wilson ) Willey. A 1937 graduate of Rushville High School, he retired from Ford Motor Company in Indianapolis following 20 years of service. He was also a lifelong farmer in Henry and Rush counties. A member of the Masonic Lodge, he was also a member of East Street Christian Church in Carthage. A veteran of the U.S. Army, he served during World War II and was a member of the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and Shriners. He also served on the Charlottesville Volunteer Fire Department for over 15 years. Survivors include children, Roy (Susan) Willey of Mt. Summit, Rose Willey of Adairsville, Ga., Buddy (Ronelle) Willey of Carthage, Bob (Debbie) Willey of Charlestown, Linda Shue of Charlottesville, Jerry (Kellie) Willey of Middletown, Charles (Sherri) Willey of Winfield, W.Va., and Kathy Donzell of Dallas, Texas; 20 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters, Naomi Esprovnik, Pat Kunstick, Faye Gillette and Dorothy Walker, all of northern Indiana; and brother, Wilfred "Ted" Willey of Florida. He was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Lorena Willey; a daughter, Lillian Willey; a son-in-law, Michael Donzell; a granddaughter, Whitney Cornell; two sisters, Nancy Heim and Marjorie E.; two brothers, Walter R. "Dick" and Weldon Willey. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Hinsey-Brown Funeral Service Knightstown Chapel. Burial will follow in Glen Cove Cemetery in Knightstown with military rites conducted by the American Legion. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from noon to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society. |
