| About | Winona E. Evans 84 of Rushville, IN passed away March 29, 2012 at her residence with her loved ones at her side. Winona was born in Decatur County, IN on October 25, 1927, to the late John C. and Anna Faye (Mahin) Smith. She graduated from Rushville High School in 1945 and graduated from Central Beauty College in 1945. She worked as a beauty operator for over 60 years. She married Gerald L. Evans on October 23, 1948 and he survives. Winona was a Guardian of Bethel 92, a member of the International Order of Job's Daughter, Order of the Eastern Star Chapter 143, and was a historian for the R.C.H.S. Alumni. She attended the First Baptist Church for over 50 years, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for about 40 years, as well serving as a deaconess and other offices. Winona and Gerald were blessed with five children, one daughter Jane Ann Evans, of Jackson, GA; and four sons John (Margo) Evans of Clearwater, FL; Jeffrey (Cheryl) Evans of Rushville; Joseph (Cathy) Evans of Brookville, IN and Jay (Kathy) Evans, of Rushville. Six Grandchildren Kristin (Aaron) Charles, Ashley Evans, John Christopher Evans, Jillian (Blaine) Tebbe, Erica Evans, and Megan Evans and 3 Great Grandchildren Addison Charles, Kooper Charles, and Hunter Thrush are also left to cherish Winona's memory. A Celebration of Life will be held 10AM Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Rushville with Rev. Jay Noll officiating. Burial will follow at the Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Friends are invited to call Tuesday from 4 to 8PM at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory. There will be a Job's Daughters Memorial Service at 7PM. Memorial offerings may be made to the Memorial Fund at First Baptist Church 1431 W US Highway 52 Rushville, IN 46173. |
