About Carolyn Elizabeth(Knuckles) Gray Obituary
CAROLYN ELIZABETH GRAY CHESTERTON, IN
Carolyn Elizabeth Gray went to be with her Lord at 1:39am, Wednesday, June 21, 2017 from an aggressive form of brain cancer found only a week ago. Carolyn was born in Harlan, KY to Lucille and Eugene Knuckles. Carolyn moved to Miller, IN as a young child and settled into Chesterton, IN to have her family, where she spent over 40 years. Carolyn leaves behind a beloved and devoted husband, Richard Lee Gray, her adored children: Jennifer (Brian) Weir-Harden, Matthew (Emily) Gray and Leslie (Shawn) Axsom. Her precious grandchildren: Leland, Lincoln and Ainsleigh Weir-Harden, Sullivan and Liam Gray, and Joslyn and baby girl Axsom. As well as her siblings: Candice (Jack) Andolina, Michael Knuckles, Jacki Rodriquez and Mitchell Knuckles and several nieces and nephews. Carolyn is preceded in death by her beautiful loving daughter, Leigh Ann Gray. Her parents, grandparents, her in laws Robert and Wilma Gray, brother in laws Tim Gray and Ronnie Rodriquez, sister in law Micki Knuckles and many lifelong friends. Carolyn was a high school graduate of William A. Wirt High School (Gary, IN) in 1969. The years following, she worked various jobs, there wasn't anything Carolyn couldn't do. She met the love of her life and married Rick (Plow) on June 19, 1976 in their A-frame home. Rick and Carolyn built a strong Christian family, raising four children including a set of boy/girl twins and resided in the same home for last 33 years. Everyone would describe Carolyn as a caring, attentive, helpful and passionate person and animal lover. It was evident during the last several years as she would care for her friend's ailing parents and friends. Carolyn was incredibly fervent about her children and grandchildren, often visiting them regularly since she retired as well as spending weeks at their cabin off Patoka Lake. Most importantly, everyone would know that she had a strong faith as she would live by example. Carolyn knew one day she was going to heaven to be reunited with her precious daughter and all of those who passed before her. She'll be missed more than words can express. Visitation service will be held from 3:00PM- 7:00PM, Friday, June 23, 2017 at CrossPointe Christian Church, 114 E. US Hwy. 6 Valparaiso, IN 46383. Funeral service will be 11:00AM, Saturday, June 24, 2017 at CrossPointe Christian Church with funeral procession to follow at Carolyn's final resting place which will be at Chesterton Cemetery, next to her daughter Leigh Ann. In lieu of flowers, we ask that you make a donation to CrossPointe Christian Church. Funeral Service officiated by Lead Minister, Tim Wanless. Arrangements under the direction of White-Love Funeral Home.
