About | Obituary for Stanley Brandmeyer Versailles, MO — Stanley (Stan) Alonzo Brandmeyer, 74, passed away Sunday, July 16, 2017, after battling a sudden illness. Loving husband, father, grandpa and overall great person. Stan was always looking to lend a helping hand where needed. He leaves his wife of 50 years, Vivian (Blewett) Brandmeyer, his sons, Michael Brandmeyer and his wife Stephanie and grandchildren Morgan, Lauren and Brock (Rolling Hills, CA); and Brent Brandmeyer, and his wife Christina and grandchildren Cooper and Piper (Lee’s Summit, MO) along with many friends and other family members. Born in Burlington, IA, graduated from Belmond High School in 1960 and attended what is now the University of Northern Iowa (UNI). After graduating from UNI, Stan commenced his teaching/coaching career in the Boone Schools in 1966 for 34 years. Not only did he take great pride in educating students, but was dedicated to hard work and endless pursuits to keep busy. He always shared great memories of his students and was always proud when he talked about the different athletes he had the privilege to coach. Pushing his sons to be their very best in athletics will be something he will always be remembered for. He also made the time to fit in 30+ years working for Farmer’s Mutual Hail, mostly during the summers. In 2006, he and Vivian officially retired and moved to the peaceful surroundings of the Lake of the Ozarks in Versailles, MO where they’ve spent the last 10+ years. Stan had a passion for helping others and being the very best which was no exception when it came to his family. He was a part-time farmer, full-time educator, coach along with being a committed husband, father, grandpa and friend. Plain and simple, Stan was never one to sit idle as he always had to be doing something. He enjoyed the last several years visiting friends and family while he and Vivian traveled across the country and made new friends along the way. Stan is also survived by brothers Randall Brandmeyer in California and Blair Brandmeyer (Cyndi) in Iowa. A Memorial service will be held on July 28 (11am) at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, IA, with a Celebration of Life Memorial Luncheon following until 2pm. A private interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery. Memorial funds for Stan will go to support an annual scholarship for a Boone High School athlete attending college. |
