| About | John Boetz, 64, of Lone Tree, Colorado, formerly of Burlington, Iowa, died Saturday, July 23, 2011 at his home in Lone Tree. Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary and Cemetery in Centennial, Colorado is serving the Boetz family. John was born on February 2, 1947 in Mekenyes, Ungarn to Johann and Elisabeth (Krahling) Boetz. At the age of 5, the family moved to Burlington, Iowa from Hungary. He grew up in Burlington, Iowa where he received his education, graduating in 1965. He then attended the University of Iowa before entering the United States Army on Aug. 9, 1967. He served in Vietnam and was honorably discharged on Aug. 8, 1969. On Dec. 7, 1969, John was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Smith in Burlington. They made their home in Burlington where John served as a Revenue Agent for the Internal Revenue Service. He continued serving the I.R.S. up until the time of his death. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Iowa Hawkeyes, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos and John excelled in track and football at BHS. He loved the mountains, skiing, walking and his dog, Sophie. His greatest joy was his children. John is survived by his wife, Patricia Boetz; children, Melissa (Eddie) Wooters, Amy Boetz, Rebecca Boetz, John Boetz; sister, Kathl Schmidt; nieces and nephews, Kathy (Dennis) Johnson, Konrad (Linda) Schmidt, Herb (Kathy) Schmidt, Eugen Hollenbach and Angelika (Michael) Burgmann. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Elisabeth Hollenbach. Arrangements under the direction of Olinger Chapel Hill Mortuary & Cemetery, Centennial, Colorado. |
