| About | Memorial services for Lin Hillyer, 64, of Bettendorf will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary chapel in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until the time of service at the mortuary. Inurnment will be at a later date. Mr. Hillyer passed away on Saturday, December 31, 2011 at his residence surrounded by his family. Lindal Ray Hillyer was born in Burlington, IA on March 16, 1947, the son of Almon “Knute†and Helen (McKean) Hillyer. On October 16, 1966, he married Sherry Hopson in Burlington. He later married Pam Davis in Elkhorn, WI on October 20, 1995. Lin worked for Ruan Transportation in Osceola, IA for many years before coming to Davenport, where he then worked for General Leasing. He was currently employed at Wenger Trucking. Lin was a talented woodworker and furniture maker. He loved to share his knowledge and to teach those around him. His kindness and helpful nature will be remembered by all who knew him. Lin had a terrific sense of humor that brought a smile and laughter to everyone around him. Among other pastimes, Lin enjoyed camping and golfing. He is survived by his Wife: Pam Hillyer of Bettendorf; a Daughter: Lisa (Sandy) Freeman of Indianola, IA; a Son: Damon (Tiffany) Hillyer of Onawa, IA; a Step-Daughter: Lisa Jamison of Breda, IA; a Step-Son: Jeff Jamison of Emmetsburg, IA; two Sisters: Mary (John) King, Alice (George) Frey; His Father and Mother-in-Law: Jerry and Charlotte Goodlaxson of Emmetsburg, IA; a Sister-in-Law: Mary Opat of San Tan Valley, AZ; 7 Brothers-in-Law: Bill (Barb) Goodlaxson of Emmetsburg, IA, Mike Goodlaxson of Council Bluffs, IA, Bob (Ann) Goodlaxson of Urbandale, IA, Jim (Joan) Goodlaxson of Emmetsburg, IA, Tom (Janey) Goodlaxson of Spirit Lake, IA, Tim Goodlaxson of West Des Moines, IA, Kevin Goodlaxson of West Des Moines, IA; 9 Grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents. |
