About | Bruce Brain Gambach, 44, 1004 S. Eighth St., died at 7:15 p.m. Sunday, June 3, 1990, at his home from a self-inflicted knife wound. He had suffered from Crohn's Disease for the last 20 years. Family visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at Raymond Funeral Home. The casket will not be present. Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Christian Church in Laurens with the Rev. Gaylon Decious officiating. Burial of ashes will be in Laurens Cemetery. A memorial has been established to National Foundation for Ileites and Colitis. Gambach was born May 15, 1946, at Fort Dodge, the son of Ralph W. and Geneva V. Alborn Gambach. He grew up and attended schools in Meriden and Tipton before the family moved to Fairfield in 1962. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1964, from Northeast Missouri State University at Kirksville in 1968, and received a doctor of osteopathic medicine degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine. He practiced in Florida, at the Signa Clinic, at Mesa, Arizona and in Milford for five years before joining the staff and faculty at Des Moines College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1983, where he remained until 1986. He returned to Fairfield to live in September 1987. Surviving are his parents of Fairfield; a brother, Ronald R. of Cedar Rapids; a sister Jill Holmes of Bettendorf; a son and a daughter. His grandparents and an infant brother, Alan Lee, preceded him in death. |
