About | John William "Bill" Crawford, 73 of Livonia, Michigan formerly of Fairfield passed peacefully at home on Friday, July 28th, 2017. John was born to Earnest (sic. Ernest) and Beatrice (Winters) Crawford in Fairfield on September 1st, 1943. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1964 and joined the United States Marine Corps serving 4 years including a tour of duty in Vietnam. After returning from his tour he was employed as a supervisor at Mc Quay-Perfex in Washington when he met and married the love of his life, Shirley (Drish) Osborn in April 1979. He worked in the Fairfield area for many years, retiring from Hy-Vee in 2008 as the night manager. Surviving are his wife Shirley of Grand Haven, Michigan. Daughter, Amy (Jason) Mankowski of Grand Haven. 3 sons: Dennis (Bernadette) Osborn of Fairfield, Dwight (Lisa) Osborn of Cedar Rapids and Myron Osborn of Brighton. Papa John has 12 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Also surviving are 5 of his siblings: Helen (Jr) Gohn of Fairfield, Chris Barber of Keosauqua, Mary Knerr, Margaret Mangold, and Tom Crawford all of Washington. He is proceeded in death by his parents, and 6 siblings: Harold, Betty, Eva Ree, Alvena, Shirley, and Virginia. John enjoyed fishing, camping, bowling, watching softball and spending time with his family. A celebration of life will be on Thursday, August 24th at the Lodge at Lake Darling from 3pm-7pm. All friends and family are welcome. The body has been cremated and a full military burial will be at a later date.
