| About | Sandra Lee MARTIN DeSMIT, 51, of Bear Lake, Mich., died at her home Friday, June 5, 1998. The body has been cremated. A memorial service will be at 1:30 p.m. Friday at First Lutheran Church in Fairfield with the Rev. Peter Drever Jr. officiating. Burial of cremains will be at a later date. In leu of flowers, memorials can be made to the family or the donor's choice. Behner Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. DeSMIT was born Sept. 28, 1946, in Milwaukee, Wis., the daughter of Donald and Janet PRAEFKE MARTIN Sr. She married Tim E. DeSMIT July 31, 1991, in Manistee, Mich. She graduated from Fairfield High School in 1964. She was a legal secretary at the law offices of Gockerman, Wilson, Saylor and Hesslin in Manistee. She enjoyed riding and working with her horses. Survivors include her husband of Bear Lake; her parents of Fairfield, one brother, Donald MARTIN Jr. of Fairfield; two sisters, Mary WAUGH of Stewartville, Minn., and Ranee DECK of New London; one niece; and four nephews. *Transcribed for genealogy purposes. Janet MARTIN died in 2008, and her name as well as that of Sandra Lee is engraved on the headstone with their proper birth and death dates.
