| About | Scott R. Ries, 50, of 2123 Cheyenne Way, Dubuque died Wednesday October 5, 2011 at home after a courageous battle with cancer. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m., Saturday, October 8, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Steve Garner officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm Friday at the Egelhof, Siegert & Casper Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 2659 Kennedy Road where there will be a parish wake service at 7:30 pm. Scott was born August 5, 1961 in Dubuque, Iowa, son of Richard and Marjorie (Paisley) Ries. He graduated from Hempstead High School in 1979. On May 25, 1984 he married Benda Phillips in Dubuque. Scott worked in the roofing industry for many years. He worked the past 15 years as a machinist at Dubuque Stamping and Manufacturing Co. and was a member of the UAW. He loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and he adored his two daughters. He is survived by his wife, Brenda Ries of Dubuque; two daughters, Paisley Ries of Chicago, Ill and Elizabeth Ries of Dubuque; his parents, Dick and Marge Ries of Dubuque; four siblings, Shawn (Kerri) Ries, Jill (Rick) Dodds, Dana (Rob) Bohr, and Tim (Alica) Ries, all of Dubuque; his father in law and mother in law, Bill and Norma Phillips of Dubuque; brother in law and sister in law, Bill and Linda Phillips; a sister in law and brother in law, Robyn and Terry Husdon; 17 nieces and nephews and countless friends. |
