| About | Mark Rae Hockel, 48, St. Joseph, passed away Sunday, Jan. 4, 2009, at his home. Mark was born on Feb. 11, 1960, in Fort Dodge, Iowa, to Richard and Beata (Ernst) Hockel. He was a graduate of Humboldt, Iowa, High School. Mark attended Grace Evangelical Church and was a member of the Harley Owners Group, St. Joseph Chapter. He worked for Brandt's Fuel Savers from 1988 to 2007. Prior to that, he was a manager of three Fareway Stores in Northeast Iowa for 10 years. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Roger LeRoy Hockel; nephew, Roger Rae Hockel; and many aunts and uncles. He is survived by his son, Cheyne Dante Hockel, still at home; daughter, Tabitha Michelle Hockel, Windsor Heights, Iowa; fiance, Lisa Starke; brothers, Duane Hockel and wife Nadine, Dakota City, Iowa, and Dale Hockel and wife Gloria, Norwalk, Iowa; and numerous nieces and nephews. Service: 2 p.m. Thursday at the Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel, St. Joseph. Cremation will follow the service with inurnment at a later date. Visitation will begin after 9 a.m. Wednesday at the Chapel, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday evening. The family suggests memorial contributions to Kendallwood Hospice. |
