About | Judi K. O'Brien, 59 years old, of Independence, died on Monday, November 16, 2009, at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn. following a sudden illness. She was born on December 1, 1949, in Independence, the daughter of Harvey Edward and Bonnie Maxine (Hanna) O'Brien. She graduated from high school in Independence, (Class of 1968) and attended junior college in Minneapolis, Minn. On Sept. 4, 1973, she and Richard Clay Bowles were married in Las Vegas, Nevada. They later divorced. O'Brien was an office worker in the banking business. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Independence. O'Brien is survived by one son, Jason C. (Michelle) Bowles of Colorado Springs, Colo., two grandchildren, her mother, Bonnie O'Brien of Independence, two brothers, Ron (Mary) O'Brien of Independence, and David (Kelly) O'Brien of Chino Valley, Ariz., and one sister, Susie (Terry) Brown of Dubuque. She was preceded in death by her father, Harvey O'Brien. Memorial Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, November 21, 2009, at the First Presbyterian Church in Independence, Iowa, with Rev. John Hougen officiating. Her ashes will be deposited at the Cremation Garden at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Independence, Iowa. White Funeral home of Independence, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.
