About | Obituary ~ Linda Lou (Foland) Cafferty October 13, 1949 ~ June 23, 1980 Ames Daily Tribune Ames, Iowa Tuesday, June 24, 1980 Linda Lou Foland Cafferty, 30, R.R. 3, Ames, died Monday, June 23 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital, Des Moines. Services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, June 27 from First Christian Church with Rev. Roy C. KEY officiating. Burial will be in Story City Memorial Garden [Story City, Story County, Iowa]. Linda Cafferty was born October 13, 1949, at Albuquerque, N.M., the daughter of Doyle and Ellen Virginia (SMITH) FOLAND. She graduated from Independence High School, Independence, and from Floraculture School, Kirkwood Community College, Cedar Rapids. On July 19, 1969, she was married to Phillip CAFFERTY at Independence. Since her marriage, she had lived in Ames. She was a member of First Christian Church, a charter member of Lionels, a member of Ames Jaycee-Ettes, member of Iowa Genealogical Society charter member of Buchanan County Genealogical Society, and a member of V.F.W. Auxiliary, Bechter-Boise #2240. Survivors include her husband; a son, Jonathan; a brother, David FOLAND, Cleveland, Ohio, and her parents of Independence. Visitation will be Thursday afternoon and evening and Friday morning at the Adams Funeral Home with the family at the funeral home Thursday, 7-9 p.m. NOTE: Linda Lou (FOLAND) and Phil CAFFERTY were foster parents for a number of children, receiving the Foster Parents of the Year Award in 1979 from Youth and Family Services of Iowa.
