Leinbaugh, 73, of Independence, died Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2005 at Manor Care, Waterloo, following a long illness. He was born March 3, 1931, in Holstein, son of James Buren and Carrie Hanson Leinbaugh. He married Shirley Lou Hunwardsen June 21, 1953, in Cushing, Iowa. Mr Leinbaugh graduated from Holstein High School in 1949 and received a B.S. from the University of Iowa in 1953. He was a physical education teacher and coach in the Audubon school system from 1956 to 1958. He began teaching in the Independence school system in 1958 and retired in 1993. He also served as a medic with the U.S. Army in Germany. Sunivors include: his wife; a son, David of Independence; three daughters, Cindy Fangman of Waterloo, Joni (Steven) Ehlert of Cedar Rapids and Leslie (Jim) Richmond of Perry; seven grand-children; three great-grandchildren: three brothers, Wyman of Holstein, Jack of Cherokee and Larry of Omaha, Neb.; and a sister, Martha Hartman of Mount Horeb, Wis. Services: 10 a.m. Saturday at Independence High School, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery; Independence. White Funeral Home, Independence, is in charge of arrangements. Friends may call after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. |
