About | Norma Nikkel, 55, of Maxwell, died Monday, Sept. 19, 2005, at Israel Family Hospice House in Ames. Norma was born in New Sharon on Aug. 19, 1950, to Stoffel and Verda (Weetman) Vander Hart. On June 7, 1967, Norma and Carroll Nikkel were united in marriage. From 1968-1970, they lived in Newton before moving to Ames from 1970-1998. Since 1999, they lived in Maxwell. Norma graduated from Pella High School, and was a homemaker and crafter. She was a specialist in home decorating and craft work. She enjoyed activities with her grandchildren and attended as many baseball, softball, basketball, football and ice hockey games as possible. She enjoyed camping with her children and grandchildren. Norma was a wonderful cook, a blessed mother and a Disciple of God. Immediate survivors include her husband, Carroll L. Nikkel, of Maxwell; daughters Kerry J. (Adam) Littman, of Maxwell, Sherri L. (Randy) Graham, of Kelley, and Mindy S. Nikkel, of Maxwell; a son, Greg J. (Connie) Nikkel, of Ames; grandchildren, Jesse Joyce (Littman), Brittany Graham, April Nikkel, Amber Joyce (Littman), Brett Graham, and Brandi Nikkel; a sister, Mary (Ken) Buff, of St. Charles, Mo.; two brothers Glen (Fran) Vander Hart, of Knoxville, and Dan (Linda) Vander Hart, of Des Moines; and her mother-in-law, Betty Nikkel, of Sully. She was preceded in death by her parents and father-in-law, Dewey Nikkel. A memorial service was held Wednesday, Sept. 21, at Trinity Christian Reform Church with the Rev. Tom Niehof officiating. Burial was at Woodland Cemetery in Iowa Center. Memorials can be made to Ames Christian School or Birthright. Adams Funeral Home in Ames was entrusted with arrangements. |
