About | Cheryl L. St. Germain-Van Zile, 66 of Toddville died peacefully at her home on Wednesday April 12, 2017. Memorial services at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at Calvary Baptist Church. Rev. Jay Jentink will officiate. Inurnment in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home from 5 to 8 PM on Monday. Survivors include her husband Rich, a son Benjamin of Laporte, Minnesota; daughter Andress Van Zile from Dodgeville, Wisconsin; niece Dana (Robert) Costas and a nephew Matt (Erin) St. Germain. She was preceded in death by her parents, a brother Dennis and a sister-in-law Pat St. Germain. Cheryl was born on May 31, 1950 in Cedar Rapids the daughter of Cecil and Rita Sandberg St. Germain. She graduated from Upper Iowa University and received her master’s degree from Truman State University, formerly North East Missouri State. Cheryl married Richard Van Zile on November 9, 1985 in Cedar Rapids. She was a teacher and coach at Taft Middle School and retired in 2011 after 38 years of teaching. She was a faithful member of Calvary Baptist Church where she had taught Sunday school for many years. Cheryl enjoyed baking, entertaining, the outdoors especially water and snow skiing. One of her greatest joys was the time she spent with her beloved family and many friends. Her memory will be cherished by her family, friends, colleagues and the many students whose lives were enriched by her. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Mayo Clinic Cancer Center Research in Cheryl’s memory. |
