| About | Diane Kae Young, 65, of Ashland, MO, passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at Parkside Manor. Diane was born December 26, 1951, in Rapid City, SD, the daughter of Charles William Young and Violet Anne Amelia (Ehlers) Young. Diane spent 43 of her adult years living in Tampa, FL. For 34 of them, she worked for the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) and the Hurricane Hunters. She had the wonderful opportunity to work with them tracking storms, preparing planes for flight, and coordinating the shipping of their supplies all over the world. She retired in March of 2016. She also owned her own electrical business for over 10 years in Tampa. She was a lover of dogs (especially Boxers and English Bulldogs) and cats, John Wayne, westerns, and crime shows. When her family came to visit, she would frequent Busch Gardens, and she was a Buccaneers fan. She loved her family no matter how far they were from her. She drove the same beloved Toyota truck for almost 20 years. She moved to Ashland, MO in October of 2016. Diane is survived by one brother, Charles Marion Young and wife, Cyndee of Urbandale, IA; a sister, Tracee Lynette Weiss and husband, Peter of Zimmerman, MN; her twin sister, Donna Rae Barnhart of Ashland, MO; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Diane was preceded in death by her grandparents; parents; and one sister, Victoria Higdon. A Memorial Service will take place 1 pm, Friday, January 13, 2017 at Alive in Christ Lutheran Church, Columbia, MO, with Pastors Tim Morris and Scott Jonas officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Alive in Christ Lutheran Church, 201 Southampton Drive, Columbia, MO 65203.
