About | The funeral for Douglas D. Vohs, 55, of Valley, Nebraska will be 10 a.m. Monday at Ludvigsen Mortuary Chapel in Fremont. He died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 6, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Adolph and Evelyn (Powers) Vohs. He grew up in rural Sioux City and graduated from high school in Moville, Iowa. He served in the U.S. Army from January 1971 to December 1972 and then returned to Moville. He operated his own over-the-road truck as well as driving for other truck lines throughout the years. Most recently he operated heavy equipment for Omni Asphalt of Omaha. He had been married to Peggy Forch. Then on Aug. 19, 2006, he married Sandy Hagelstien, and they had resided in Valley. Survivors include: his wife, Sandy; a daughter, Melissa Vohs of Sioux City; a son, Marty Vohs (and wife, Deb) of Moville; two sisters, Joan (and husband, Roger) Murray of Lincoln and Janice (and husband, Douglas) Kracht of Peterson, Iowa; and three grandchildren. The Rev. Tom Shaw will officiate Monday's service. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with family receiving friends from 4-8 p.m. Burial with military honors will be in Memorial Park Cemetery in Sioux City. |
