Ruth Ann Guise, 57, of Shawnee died peacefully on Wednesday, March 16, 2011. Ruth was born on October 23, 1953, in Norfolk, Virginia, daughter of Edwin and Ruth Bleam of Leavenworth KS. Ruth excelled in 4-H and crafts during her formative years, and then developed skills in hunting and fishing. She graduated from Basehor High School. After a 20-year career in Nursing, ranging from the delivery ward to trauma care to heart surgery, she met her devoted and loving husband Timothy Guise. Health problems derailed further progress in nursing and she tried her hand in growing flowers which she loved, making jams and pies at which she excelled, and dealing in antiques in which she had a keen eye. She is survived and will be sorely missed by her husband Tim, her son David Russell Martin who she loved dearly, her parents Ed and Ruth Bleam, and siblings Kenneth Bleam (Cheryl), Howard Bleam (Connie) and Carolyn Hollingshead (Keith) as well as numerous nieces and nephews. We will forever remember her indomitable spirit and strength in the face of so much adversity throughout her life. Donations to the American Cancer Society in lieu of flowers is suggested as an option. We will celebrate her life with a visitation from 5 p.m. till 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 20, and then a funeral service at 10 a.m. on Monday, March 21, both at Amos Family Funeral Home, 10901 Johnson Drive, Shawnee followed by interment at Hubbell Hill Cemetery in Tonganoxie |
