About | Christopher Lee Stangle, 38, Enterprise, died Friday, January 18, 2002 at Abilene Memorial Hospital, Abilene, KS. He was born August 11, 1963 at Fort Benning, GA, the son of August F. and Helen Marie (Shaw) Stangle. He moved with his family to Enterprise on August 26, 1970. He attended Enterprise Grade School, and graduated from Chapman High School in 1982. He took First Responder and EMT classes and attended Washburn University, Topeka, in the fall of 1990. Mr. Stangle had worked at McDonald's, the Alco Distribution Center, and Veal Construction all in Abilene. He also worked as a dispatcher and jailer for the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department, had been a patrolman for the City of Chapman, and an EMT in Herington. Survivors include his parents, August and Helen Stangle of Enterprise; four brothers; August F. Stangle, Jr. of Concordia, Joseph J. Stangle of Sedona, AZ, Charles E. Stangle of Sedan, KS, and Darrell E. Stangle of Gilbert, AZ. Funeral services were at 10 am, Wednesday, January 23, 2002 at the Londeen Funeral Chapel, Chapman, with the Rev. Jack Craig officiating. Burial was in the Mount Hope Cemetery, south of Enterprise. Visitation was from the morning of Tuesday, January 22, 2002 until the time of the service at the funeral chapel. The family received friends from 7 to 8:30 pm on Tuesday, January 22, 2002 at the funeral chapel. His death was ruled a suicide by the Dickinson County Sheriff's Department. |
