About Donald C. Wilson 70, resident of Chillicothe, Missouri & Wichita, Kansas passed away Monday morning, May 18, 2009 at Heartland Hospital, St. Joseph, Missouri, following a brief illness.

Don was born November 23, 1938, in Clay Center, KS, son of Ernest & Nola Wilson. On May 28, 1967 he married Leslie (Beth) Piper in Emporia, Kansas. To this union two daughters were born, Jacque Fox (John), Wichita, Kansas and Patty Williams (Corey), Chillicothe, Missouri. Don was preceded in death by his parents, and one brother Ron Wilson. He is survived by his wife of the home, two daughters, three grandchildren, Michael and Kristin Fox, and Spenser Williams, one brother, James Wilson, Clifton, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews.

Don spent 40 years in the field of education. He served as Principal of Scandia, KS grade school, 7th & 8th grade instructor at Admire-Allen grade school, Admire, Kansas, high school administrator at Northern Heights High School, Allen, Ks, grade school principal at Goddard Primary Learning Center, Goddard, Kansas and finished his career at St. Patrick’s Parochial School in Wichita, Kansas as 7th & 8th grade science and math instructor and principal. While in the teaching profession he was involved in coaching and advising teams for the Science Olympiad.

After retirement he and Beth became full time RV’ers. While visiting numerous locations they also spent time at Spring Lake Resort, Halstead, Kansas as workkampers and 4 summers at Elk Meadow Lodge and RV Park in Estes Park, Colorado, three of those as Assistant Managers.

Don was a member of East Heights United Methodist Church in Wichita, Kansas and an active member of the YMCA in Chillicothe, Missouri.

There will be a visitation, Wednesday evening, May 20 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Lindley Funeral Home in Chillicothe, Missouri, followed by a memorial service Saturday, May 23 at 10:30 a.m. at Cross Road Fellowship Bible Church, Wichita, Kansas. Disbursement of the ashes will take place at a later time in Estes Park, Colorado.

Because of Don’s love for education a memorial fund has been set up for the higher education of his three grandchildren. Contributions may be left or mailed to Lindley Funeral Home, Box 47, Chillicothe, Missouri 64601.
