| About | Mario D. Lopez, 62, of Cherryvale, KS, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2015 from the injuries of a motorcycle accident on 169 Highway near Chanute, KS. Mario David Lopez was born August 2, 1953 in Independence, Kansas the son of Frank Roman Lopez and Mary (Ortega) Lopez. He grew up in Independence and graduated from Independence High School in 1971. He graduated from Independence Community College and later from Pittsburg State University with a Bachelors of Arts Degree in Drafting. On August of 1972 in Independence he was united in marriage to Celeste Hedge and they later divorced. He was later united in marriage in Independence on June 2, 1990 to Jo Ann Lickteig and she survives at the home. Mario worked at Independence Community College as Director of Operations until 2013 and later worked for Coffeyville Community College in maintenance and grounds keeping until he retired in January of this year (2015). |
