Daniel "Dan" McKay, 69, passed away October 13, 2020, at the University of Kansas Health System - Great Bend Campus. He was born on September 8, 1951, at Meade, to David J. & Mary (Clowers) McKay. He married Angie Caudill on December 19, 2011, at LaCrosse.

Coming from LaCrosse in 2013, Dan was a Great Bend resident. He was a civil engineer. He graduated with honors and enjoyed watching K-State play, as well as professional football. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.

Survivors include, his wife, Angie of the home; three sons, Reese McKay and wife Emily of Texas, Baxter McKay of Topeka, and Joshua Caudill of Hope; a daughter, Stephanie Krom and husband Joshua of Great Bend; his father, David J. McKay; a brother, David L. McKay and wife Cheryl; a sister in law, Tracey McKay of Wichita; and nine grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary McKay; and a brother, Kevin McKay.

Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, October 19, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 20, 2020, at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of Bryant Funeral Home.
Events Motorcycle rider killed after hitting dog crossing Great Bend street

GREAT BEND, Kan. (KSNW) – Authorities said a 69-year-old man riding a motorcycle was ejected after hitting a dog Tuesday night in Great Bend. It happened at 7:50 p.m. at Broadway and Van Fleet.

Officers found Daniel McKay unresponsive. He was transported to the hospital where he died.

Authorities said McKay struck a large dog running across the street. The dog died. The owner of the dog was later contacted by officers.
