Cerne, 46, Mission Hills, KS, passed away Sunday, July 20, 1997, at the Carondelet Manor, Kansas City, MO.A celebration of his life will be held at 2 PM, Thursday, July 24 at The Colonial Church of Prairie Village, 7030 Mission Road. The family will receive friends following the service. Cremation. The family suggests contributions to the Coaches vs Cancer for the University of Kansas, c/o The American Heart Association, 1315 SW Arrowhead Rd. Topeka, KS 66604 Mr. Cerne was born June 13, 1951 in Kingman, KS, living in the Johnson County Kansas area the past 23 years. He graduated from Lawrence High School in 1969 and was honored as a top 10 All American Running back in football. He participated in three sports while in high school, going on to play football for the University of Kansas in Lawrence where he graduated in 1974. He then went on to the University of Kansas Medical Center, where he received his Master’s Degree in Audiology and a D.D.S. from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He served as a dentist while in the United States Navy as a Lieutenant. He was a dentist in Private practice for five years in Kansas City. He also served as audiologist and football coach while at the Kansas School for the Deaf. He was President of the Greater Kansas City Culligan Water and President and founder of Collegiate Water as well as serving ten years with the company. He was a member of the DU fraternity, The Colonial Church of Prairie Village, the 9th District Dental Society, and the American Dental Associates T.H.C.; Olathe Area Chamber of Commerce, its Economic Development Advisory Council and a 1990 graduate of Leadership Olathe; the A.O.P.A (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Association); the Letterman Club, “K Club” at the University of Kansas; the American Collegiate Association; and was very active in youth softball and basketball. He was also very active with Cub Scouts. He leaves his wife, Jean Allen Cerne, of the home; a son, Patrick A. Cerne, of the home; parents Al & Lois Cerne of Olathe, KS; and a sister, Connie Rishworth and her husband, Bill, of Olathe, KS. (Arrangements: Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 143rd & Blackbob Rd.
