Ronald Thomas Salyer, 38, died April 15, 1990, near Sitka, as the result of an automobile accident. Born Nov. 16, 1951, at Manhattan, he married Kimberly Kay Brown in September 1980, at Ashland. He grew up in the Spearville area, graduating from Spearville High School in 1969 and Notre Dame University, South Bend, Ind., in 1973. He was a Feist Publications salesman based in Lubbock, Texas. He was a former Ashland resident.He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ashland, former member of Downtown Kiwanis Club, Notre Dame Alumni of Colorado Springs, Colo., Youth America League football coach, Colorado Springs, Notre Dame Alumni of Lubbock, Texas, and was active in the Ashland Recreation Commission, Ashland. Survivors include: two sons, Zachary Brown Salyer and Zebulon Brown Salyer, both of Ashland; parents, Tom and Betty Salyer, Ashland; three brothers, Charles Paul Salyer, Gretna, La., Matthew Garth Salyer, Alva, Okla., and Bradford John Salyer, Manhattan; and a sister, Karen Angele Divine, Woodward, Okla. Vigil service was held at 8 p.m., Tuesday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Ashland. The funeral Mass was Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., at the church, with Revs. Jonathan Callison and Gilbert Hermann officiating. Burial was in the church cemetery. The family suggests memorials to the Notre Dame Scholarship Fund in care of the funeral home. From obituary published in The Spearville News near the time of his loss.
