About | Lori Ann Green (54) was born November 28, 1960, the daughter of Elmer and Virginia Green. She attended Lowman Hill Elementary, Jardine Junior High, graduated from Topeka West High School in 1978, and graduated from the University of Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in sociology. Lori showed an interest in track at an early age and Dr. John Davis Jr. noticed her when she when she was just in elementary school. Davis, coach of the Cosmo’s Track Club, commented, “She really has potential." Shortly thereafter, Dr. Davis began training Lori as a member of the Cosmos. He remained her mentor long after his retirement while running for the Topeka Track Club. In addition to summer track, where Lori won numerous AAU Junior Olympic awards, Lori participated in junior high and high school track programs. Her record times set in the 100 and 200, remain the Kansas State High School All Time Best. At just 16 years of age, Lori qualified for the Olympic Trials, but she opted to continue her high school track career. Lori attended the University of Kansas on a full track scholarship. Her first year at KU, she was voted Most Valued Woman Athlete of the 1979 Kansas Relays. Many of her record times remain today. Lori met Bernard Williams in 1982. They have two sons, Michael and Joseph Williams, and five grandchildren together. Lori and Bernard were remarried January 29, 2010. The couple owned and operated Sir Ezra Steak and Seafood together. Prior to the restaurant, Lori worked for the State of Kansas at Kansas Neurological Institute for over 13 years. Lori is survived by her parents, Elmer and Virginia Green of Topeka; husband Bernard Williams of Kansas City, MO; sons Michael Williams (Michelle), and Joseph Williams both of Topeka; sister, Teresa Sowell (Cornell) of Topeka; nieces, nephews, cousins, and her Grandchildren, Michael Jr, Micah, Cora, Peyton and Jiraiya, who lovingly refer to her as “Honey”. Lori will be missed, but her memories will be cherished by her family and friends. |
