Gary was the second of Cliff and Marty (nee Rechtin) Swauger's three boys to attend Bellevue HIgh School. He and his two brothers, Cliff (Bud) and Mike all received the Babe Ruth Sportsmanship Award - the only three of the same family members in the school's history to do so. Gary served as his senior class president and was selected "Mr. BHS." He was in the army and served his country from 1961-1963. He loved acting and was in many plays off-Broadway before being drafted. He moved to Naperville, Illinois over 40 years ago working for AT&T until his retirement. Afterwards, he worked part-time for St. Elizabeth Seton Catholic Church. His proudest moment was when he was ordained a deacon in the archdiocese of Joilet, Illinois. Forty years ago he moved to Naperville, Illinois where he died after battling Alzheimer's disease for the last 15+years. He is survived by his wife Deanna, daughter LIsa (Sam), son Lane (Nelly), 3 grandchildren and a great granddaughter; his brothers Cliff Jr. (Jan) and Mike (Georgiana) and his sisters Mary Jo Webster and Sally Blommel (Jim) and many, many nieces, nephews, counsins and friends who shall all miss him dearly. |
