| About | Jeffrey Alan Darby who would have been a junior at GCHS in the fall of 1981, collapsed and died at 12:34 pm at the school. He was a member of the high school varsity basketball team. Born November 18, 1964 in Ashland. Jeff played junior varsity football, and at Wurtland Elementary was a member of the school patrol and an all-sports athlete. In addition to his parents, Betty Hunt Haney and the late Eldon R. Darby, he is survived by his stepfather Carl Haney; three brothers, Lawrence Ray Darby, John Haney and Jim Haney, all of Wurtland. maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs Lawrence Hunt of Satsuma, Florida; paternal grandmother, Frances Darby of Ashland KY; and stepgrandmother, Mrs Hobart J. Haney of Grayson KY. Funeral services were held Thursday, July 23rd 1981 at Riggs Funeral Home with the Rev. Howard Bentley officiating. Burial was in Brickunion Cemetery. |
