About | Joey was on his way to work, at WPSD TV, where he was chief engineer. He had worked there since he was 19 yrs. old. He was riding his small Harley as he was in the process of getting a new bigger one, when the front tire went, Joey was thrown into on coming traffic...he had his helmet on, but when a big 4x4 truck runs over you, you don't have much of a chance...he was flown to Evansville, with shaken baby syndrome. Not many contusions to see. They kept him on life support for 3 days. We knew he was gone, but we just couldn't leave him up there all alone. He was a card doner and it took the (body collecters ) that long to fly in. (Can you tell I was angry)? I would go and set by him when the room was empty and just talk, we all took our turns.... They kept him on life support for 3 days! But the local hospital workers were so nice to us. and the hospital furnished us with a large suite to stay in. Even furnished us food. The frustrating thing is they charged Joey's wife around $70 thousand dollars to fly him to Evansville. So if you are a doner, beware of the cost you pay just to die. And NO the insurance did not cover it!! If you see this, say a prayer for his family! Our older brother died April 13, 2015 and we were still grieving, but to lose 2 brothers within 5 months is totally unreal. Now we grieve for 2. Those of you that knew Joey, knew he was very fun loving, and loved going on bike trips with his friends...He and Cindy and Amanda, and Jordan their kids had just gotten back from another trip to Moab. It was their dream to move there.....Joey had a full life, but it hurts every day, when I feel the need to call him or Byron, our brother. I can't but I know they are in Heaven with our Lord, Jesus Christ. And all our loved ones. I write this with a broken heart, even though I, Nancy, is still here fighting cancer. Thanks for reading my thoughts. Sincerely, Nancy Peace And Love to all! I will post a picture later. |
