Earl Joseph Gonzales Jr., 72, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, February 15, 2022. Earl was born September 3,1949, in New Orleans, to Earl J. Gonzales, Sr., and Cecile Menesses Gonzales. He was a native of St. Bernard Parish and current resident of Slidell, Louisiana. Earl was the loving husband of Kathryn Gonzales for 38 years, proud father to John R. Esposito, III., (Lanae), Lisa Gonzales Young (Jeff), Dawn Esposito Paradis (Paul), Jennifer Esposito Ponthier (Chris Bourgeois), devoted grandfather to ten grandchildren, Briana Esposito, Chance Esposito, Kaleb Esposito, Nicholas Young, Hannah Paradis, Alex Paradis, Mackenzie Paradis, Brandon Ponthier (Ashley), Andrew Ponthier, Abby Ponthier and loving great-grandfather to Carter Ponthier. Earl is survived by two sisters, Trudy Guerra (Louis), Karen Blancas (Al), their children Louis Guerra, Jr., (JoAnn) and Chad Blancas along with a host of nieces, nephews and other extended family members and friends. Earl retired from Exxon Mobil in 2010 after 36 years of employment. He was a member of the United Steelworkers Local 13-522 where he served as the president for over 20 years. Earl was the commodore in the Poor Man's Yacht Club and an active member of the Krewe of Bilge and Krewe of Dionysis. Earl enjoyed spending time with his family, hosting seafood boils, going on cruises with his wife and friends, participating in carnival activities, and giving nicknames to everyone. Earl will be remembered for his fun-loving nature and kind personality. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, 400 Westchester St., Slidell, LA 70458, on Thursday, February 24, 2022, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm followed by a Catholic mass at 12:00 pm.
