Graduation Year Class of 1985
Date of Birth Feb 27, 1967
Date of Passing Apr 02, 2024
About Michael Chad Zirkle, 57, of Haughton, Louisiana passed away peacefully surrounded by family and friends on April 2, 2024.
Michael, better known as Zirkle, died peacefully after a short illness. He was born on February 27, 1967 the only child to Bob and Edna Zirkle, of Haughton.

He was predeceased by his beloved mother, Edna (Slavik) Zirkle. He is survived by his father, Bob Zirkle, of Haughton; his fiancée Karol Ann Mitchell, of Monroe; Chloe Ellington, and Rylee Ellington, prodigal son Oscar Benson and numerous loved ones and a tremendous number of close friends.

Memorial Services will be held at Hillcrest Memorial of Haughton Louisiana on April 6, 2024. Visitation will be held beginning at 1 p.m. with services at 2 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to wear their favorite sports jerseys, or colorful clothing to remember Zirkle. He would ask that all remember the amazing laughter and memories, rather than the sudden sadness.

Zirkle attended Haughton High School, graduating in 1985. He was an athlete, serving as a member of the Haughton High School Football team and was a member of the Haughton High School Choir, among many notable activities. He was famous for his camel walk, his knowledge of cigars, music, all sports, wrestling and his scally caps.

After high school, he attended Northeast Louisiana University. He then began a long service as a dealer with the Horseshoe Casino. Most recently, he had taken a job with Barksdale Federal Credit Union.

He was making plans to marry the true love of his life, Karol, in November of this year at Lake Bistineau in Louisiana.

He is a lifetime member of the Lakehouse Tribe of Lake Bistineau.

Zirkle will long be remembered for his loving heart, his compassion and his absolute loyalty to his true friends and loved ones. He was pure in heart and spirit. And all should know, beyond a doubt, it is well with his soul.

In a game of trivial pursuit, in the area of sports or music, you would have wanted him on your team.

One of the biggest blessings of his life was falling in love with Karol Ann Mitchell. He had just recently proposed, and they were planning a wedding in November at Lake Bistineau. While it may seem cruel that he was taken at this time, know this absolutely. He left this world peacefully, knowing he was truly loved and appreciated for exactly who he was. He knew his worth and was looking forward to an incredible future.

While we will never understand the timing, we must be grateful for God’s plan. Those who knew and loved Zirkle will forever remember him and honor his name.

While the plan may have been tragically changed, his fiancé Karol is forever a part of Zirkle’s tribe of loyal friends and family. His memory will also be celebrated again later at a private ceremony on Lake Bistineau.
