One man was killed and another man was seriously injured after being run over early this morning at a gas station in Broussard. Broussard Police Chief Brannon Decou said Jack Louviere, 22, of Youngsville was pronounced dead at the scene and Jonathan Wainright, 23, of Broussard was transported to a local hospital. Police have arrested Kenneth Britton II, 36, of New Iberia on one count of second degree murder, one count of attempted second degree murder and resisting arrest. Police said Louviere and Wainright were pumping gas into their motorcycles at the Shop Rite on U.S. 90 around 1 a.m. when witnesses saw the two men get into a verbal altercation with the suspect. Britton got into a beige 1995 Chevrolet pickup truck, floored his vehicle and drove in between the gas pumps, running over both Louviere and Wainright, police said. He then fled the scene headed south on U.S. 90. Broussard officers found Britton's vehicle at Billeaud's Storage facility on La. 182 and apprehended him after a brief foot chase, according to police. |
