About | LITTLETON – A. Anne Duff, 59, went home to be with her Lord, Monday, Jan. 29, 2007, at a Bangor hospital. She was born Aug. 16, 1947, the daughter of Frank and Grace (Jewett) Cunningham. They lived in Bath, New Brunswick, until Anne was two years old. Then they moved to their farm in New Limerick. When Anne was three years old, she realized she could play the piano by ear. This was a gift she willingly shared throughout her life. Anne attended Ricker Classical Institute and graduated from Houlton High School in 1965. She continued her education at Northern Maine Technical Institute and graduated as a licensed practical nurse. She used her nurses training in several area hospitals, but her favorite years were spent working on obstetrics at Houlton Regional Hospital. In recent years, she worked for Visiting Nurses of Aroostook and Community Living Association at the Harmony House. She loved her clients and that love made a difference in their lives. On July 27, 1968, she married the love of her life, Allen Duff, and they made their home in Littleton. Throughout the years, the family enjoyed vacations and several trips, most recently to California. Anne declared that her happiest times were spent at home, entertaining the grandkids, working in her flowers and planning the next building project with Allen. She loved to read cookbooks and shared her cooking talent with her family, friends and neighbors. Anne’s love for the Lord was evident in every area of her life and her greatest joy was the opportunity she had to tell others of Jesus’ love. She was a faithful member of the United Baptist Church of Littleton, where she served her Lord with compassion and joy. Her adventurous spirit and ready smile endeared her to the youth, whether teaching junior church or leading teens in Word of Life. In December 2006, Anne resigned her position of junior church leader after 33 years. Many lives have been changed by this remarkable woman, who never lectured but taught by example in the way she led her life. Anne was predeceased by her parents; her brother, Richard; and her stepfather, Walter Garbotz. She is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Allen. She and Allen not only shared the same birthday; they also shared the love of three beautiful daughters and their families, Laurie Jipson and her husband, Doug, of Houlton, Paulette Sherman and her husband, Stacy, of New Limerick and Amanda Duff of Portland. Anne was a devoted grandmother to Ashley and Megan Hannigan, Breanna and Grace Jipson. She is also survived by a special sister-in-law, Donna Tracy, along with several other brothers, sisters-in-law, cousins, nieces, nephews and several friends. She will be terribly missed by close friends of many years, Diane Corey, Becky Miller and Bonnie Codrey. Anne’s death left a huge hole in our hearts, but we have the joy of knowing that someday we will be dancing with the angels alongside our wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and friend!
