Graduation Year Class of 1969
Date of Passing Jun 14, 2015
About Arthur Schools 63, Houlton, passed away in the comfort of his home June 14, 2015 following his battle with esophageal cancer surrounded by his family. He was born December 14, 1951 at Houlton, the son of Joseph and Arlene (Wiggins) Schools and was the loving father of Jamie, Jody and Michael. James grew up in Houlton and graduated from Houlton High School. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corp at the age of 17 and served in the Vietnam. James worked many jobs. He especially enjoyed working for SAVE where he drove bus and assisted the Forestry Class and working with the Forest Service. James enjoyed fishing and hunting. It was often said he could catch a fish in a mud puddle. James had a gift for music and loved to sing and play guitar. He entertained many as a member of several different bands. James was stubborn at times and a creature of habit. He had a routine and he stuck to it. James enjoyed many years of daily 11:30AM lunches at the Irving Big Stop Restaurant. He was a member of the Houlton American Legion and the VFW in Pensacola, Florida. He would give anyone “the shirt off his back.” He loved his family dearly. He never missed an opportunity to spend time with them. He was always in attendance at birthday parties and ball games. He especially loved Sunday lunches with family. James is survived by his three children Jamie Schools, Jody Schools and Michael Schools all of Houlton; eight grandchildren Abigail, A.J., Grace, Lizzie, McKenzi, Olivia, Pierson and Archer; two brothers Kenneth Schools of Hammond Plantation, George Schools and his wife Linda of Houlton; two sisters Judy Sennett and her husband Allen of Houlton, Linda Bailey and his husband Jim of Littleton; several nieces and nephews.
