Jim served in the U.S. Navy on the aircraft carrier USS Tarawa. He was a member of Houlton United Methodist Church since 1959, Houlton Promenaders, Houlton Grange for 40 years and a lifetime member of Houlton Lodge of Elks. He started his own service station and wrecker service, Jim's Gulf Service Station, which he ran from 1970 until his retirement in 1982; he was honored by the Gulf President Honor Council for his business. Surviving are his wife, Shirley (Pryor) Ward of Houlton; two brothers, Lawrence and Arnold; two sisters, Mary Roeske and Joyce Hanington; several nieces and nephews He was predeceased by his parents, Robert O. and Helen M. (McSheffery) Ward. |
