| About | He retired after 20 years in the U.S. Army, serving tours in Vietnam, Korea and Germany. He was a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans. He is survived by his wife of 21 years, Sandra "Sandy" (Mace) Merritt; five children, Jason, Jonathan, Joey Jay, Wade Jay, Terry Bishop,Christine Merritt and Kelli Williams; seven grandchildren; one great-grandson; two brothers, George and Steven Merritt; six sisters, Donna Hurley, Beverly Hanagan, Nancy Smith, Sally Blike,Kelly Meqguire, and Amy Merritt; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.He was predeceased by his parents, Elbridge "Stubby" and Virginia (Cone) Merritt; one brother, Kenneth; a sister, Barbara; and a stepson, Tony Jay. |
