His mother died when he was 8 months old. He served an overseas tour in Germany and returned to Houlton to marry his high school sweetheart, Sylvia Crawford. He went to work for Riley's Market in 1947 and Almon H. Fogg Co. in 1954, where he remained until his retirement in 1992. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia; five children, Eva Brown, Nancy St. Hilaire, Leigh Jr., Michael and Terry; 20 grandchildren;, 20 great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, E. Cecil and Eva E. (Brawn) Cummings; his stepmother; and two grandsons. |
