HOULTON - Linda Peabody Severson was born January 26th, 1942 in Houlton, Maine, the daughter of Arnold S. and Mildred (Rollins) Peabody. Linda passed away on September 12th, 2014 in Boston at Brigham and Women’s Hospital following her bout with cancer and its treatment. Linda graduated from Houlton High School in 1960 and attended Lasell Junior College in Boston, Massachusetts. She worked at Green’s Women’s Clothing Store, and Bither's Fashions in Houlton. Her passions were boating and fishing at Drew's Lake, travels to Siesta Key, Florida, her home, cooking, gardening, dancing, crossword puzzles, and spending time with her family. Her life was filled with acts of grace and goodness. She was a member of the Hospital Auxiliary and volunteered at the Houlton Humane Shelter. She loved animals, and had a special kinship with cats. She faced her illness with extraordinary courage, a courage she drew forth during other life crises. A true giving spirit, she decided after her illness had ravaged her body, she would not live a life incapacitated, dependent, and worse (in her mind) a burden to loved ones. Her passing will leave a void in the lives of her family and friends. Linda is survived by her husband, Gary A. Severson of Houlton, Maine; her son, A. Parker Severson of Austin, Texas; her dear friend, Jim Thompson of New Limerick, Maine; her two sisters and their families, Jill Barbieri and husband Frank of Portland, Maine and Janice Peabody and partner Glen Holmes of New Limerick, Maine. She is also survived by two nieces, Kirsten Sharpe and family of Newtown, Connecticut and Erica Handy and family of Milton, North Carolina. Linda is also survived by two of her beloved cats, Callie and Rico. Linda was predeceased by her parents, Arnold and Mildred (Billie) and two nephews, Theron McNutt and Ryan Handy. Per Linda’s request there will be no services |
