Muriel E. (Fortier) Powers 88, passed away Jan. 29, 2015 at a local healthcare facility. She was born Jan. 20, 1927 in Houlton, the daughter of James and Viola (Jameson) Fortier. Muriel was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Visitation Church and was very strong in her faith. She met and married Frederick L. Powers, Sr. on Oct. 6, 1941. Muriel was employed at the S&H Stamp store and was a secretary for the St. Mary’s school and Adult Ed at Houlton High School. She enjoyed square dancing, working side by side with her husband Fred at suppers and dances at the Knights of Columbus and crocheting. Muriel is survived by her children Frederick L. Powers, Jr. and his wife Barbara of Bakersfield, CA, Rellon Powers and his wife Wanda of Martinsburg, WV, Michael Powers of Houlton, Daniel Powers and his wife Nancy of Presque Isle, Mary (Powers) Williamson and her husband Dana of Houlton; twelve grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; one great, great grandchild; her sister Jean Merritt and her husband Doug of Houlton; several nieces and nephews; her special life long friend Jeanette Moore. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband Frederick L. Powers, Sr., two sons Paul and William, two daughters-in-law Charlotte Powers and Alfreda “Freddy” Powers, grandson Duane, two brothers Charles H. Fortier and Raymond Fortier. |
