About | MOUNT CHASE - Amber Ruth Hobbs (Hurlbert), age 62, passed away early Friday, August 14, 2015 at the Eastern Maine Medical Center due to a prolonged series of illness. She was born in Patten, Maine March 7, 1953, to Hugh and Frances (Golden) Hurlbert and until moving to Mt. Chase a few years ago, she fully enjoyed being a lifelong resident of town. Amber attended the Patten Academy and was a graduate of the Katahdin High School. She worked at all of the variations of the local mill (Huber Plywood Mill, later Patten Veneer Products, and finally Cally Currier). Amber was a member of the Patten Pentecostal and Crystal Wesleyan churches. She was constantly working on crochet, needle point and other handicraft projects. She also thrived on making sure that every important event was captured on film, and sharing that gift with all. Amber is survived by her loving husband Roger Hobbs. They were married in Patten on March 6, 1971 and have been happy together ever since. Amber is also survived by her brothers Freddie, David, Harold and Charles. She is predeceased by her sisters Frances and Katherine "Dolly", and brothers Tom, Billy, Nealy, and Bobby. Amber started life as one of eleven children. Her family has grown to include children Greg Hobbs, Tammie Toothaker and fiancé Ron McCarthy, Trevor Hobbs and wife Barb Spaulding. Grandchildren (Greg) Greg Jr, Brian and wife Becky, Bonnie and husband Bobby, Amy, Jason, Michael, Kilie; (Tammie) Manda, Aaron, Allison; (Trevor) Caroline, and Corinna. Great-grandchildren Josiah, Lauralie, Kathlynn, Caiden, Emma, Kaylee, Kamerin, Nevaeh, Alivia, and Konnor. Mom was not a fan of fresh flowers. They always reminded her of a funeral. (She preferred silk flowers so she could enjoy them longer.) In lieu of flowers, she would have preferred donations to the Crystal Wesleyan Church, or your local home of worship. Friends may call 2-4 PM Sunday, August 16 at the Bowers Funeral Home in Island Falls. Her funeral will be held at 1pm, Monday, August 17 at the Crystal Wesleyan Church in Crystal, Maine. A private burial will be held at a later date. |
