About | PATTEN - Chester Wesley Glidden Jr. died Monday, Aug. 13, 2007. He was born March 13, 1952, in Patten, the son of the late Chester W. and Madeline V. Glidden. Despite being desperately sick day and night for more than 23 years, Chet remained positive, courageous and loving. He retained his famous sense of humor right to the end. He did everything he could for his family and loved them all, immediate, extended and spiritual. In his early 40s, he dedicated his life to do the will of the Sovereign of the Universe, Jehovah God. As one of Jehovah's Witnesses, true worship became his life. He learned from the Holy Scrip-tures that only God's Kingdom government, under the leadership of his son and our King Jesus Christ, would solve all the problems we face today. All he wanted was to help his family and others become faithful subjects of that kingdom before these Last Days come to an end. His endurance, determination and faith is summed up nicely in one of his favorite scriptural thoughts from God's dear son: "Keep on, then, seeking first the kingdom and his righteousness ... So, never be anxious about the next day, for the next day will have it's own anxieties." -Mathew 6:33,34. He was a special, gentle and truly loving gift to our lives. He was a fabulous husband, father and super grandfather that filled everyone's lives with laughter. He was one of a kind. He will be sorely missed. But, he will "stand up again" with many other loved ones in paradise, thanks to the loving promises of our God, Jehovah. Rest, finally, in your sleep for now, we will love you forever with all our hearts. He is survived by his beloved wife of 36 1/2 years, Lynn; and sons, Jeremy, Wade and wife, Lisa, of Patten. Also, his sister, Carolyn Splan and husband, James, of Benedicta; and brothers, Robert Glidden and wife, Adeline, of Durham, Conn., and Rodney P. Glidden of Patten. He is also survived by five precious grandchildren, Kylie Rose, Mallory Jade, Tyler Daniel, Cooper John Wesley and Benjamin James. He even had an "adopted" son, Daniel T. Rebal; an attack cat, Simon; and one gorgeous black dog, Selena. Chet had 30 nieces and nephews, all whom he loved very much. He was predeceased by his sister, Thomasine Roberts; and brother, Brian L. Glidden. Chester's family would like to thank all the hospital staff, friends and family that have cared for him over these past years. It meant a lot to him. Memorial services will be held 1 p.m. Sept. 29, at Patten Kingdom Hall. |
