Barbara Noyes Crede Obituary (1943 - 2023)

Graduation Year Class of 1961
Date of Birth Apr 12, 1943
Date of Passing Aug 26, 2023
About While at KHS, Barbara was a delegate to Dirigo Girls’ State and a member of the National Honor Society. Following graduation from KHS, Barbara served in the US Navy. She was a radioman stationed at the Brunswick Naval Air Station during the Cuban Missile. She met her husband George Crede during this time. After her military service, Barbara worked in various banks and manufacturing facilities, obtaining for one employer $3,000,000 in insurance payments due for insurance-covered work performed by her employer for whom she also set up procedures to follow in the future for all insurance-covered work. Her employer said she had “a job for life.” She and husband George retired to Newington, CT where Barbara became a dedicated volunteer and was actively involved in veterans and genealogy organizations. She played a significant role in starting the Wreaths Across America program at the American Legion Post 117 in Newington. She had a passion for genealogy and conducted extensive research into the ancestries of her parents’ Smith and Noyes families, the results of which have been donated to the Brick Store Museum.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 60 years and daughter Dawn Crede Murphy and her husband John of Austin, TX, grandchildren Caroline and Patrick Murphy, and her sister Paula Noyes Singer of Lyman, ME and nieces Beth Goodrich and Samantha Singer and their families.
