| About | Carol Ann Dore, beloved wife, mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, passed away quietly on February 17, 2023, at Valley Medical Hospital in Renton, Washington. She was 80 years old. The third of four children, Carol was born in Saco Maine, on December 1, 1943, to parents Orvin and Eleanor Wormwood of Kennebunk Maine. Carol graduated from Kennebunk High School, class of 1962, and later that year, married her husband Elwood (Ike) Dore on December 29th. Her first jobs were in sales, before having her two sons Edward and Robert. In 1971, Carol moved her young family, following her husband to the Pacific Island of Guam, where they raised their boys. While in Guam, Carol worked as a Preschool and Daycare Teacher, and later as a property manager. She was the quintessential Den Mother and Boy Scout Troop Mom, organizing and attending activities that ranged from den meetings to summer camping trips. Carol caught a travel bug and travelled with family and friends to interesting destinations like Hawaii, Singapore, South Korea, Bali and the Philippines. Her hobbies included ceramics and woodworking and selling her crafts at various craft fairs across the island. After her husband retired, they settled in Maple Valley Washington, to be closer to her sons and grandchildren. Carol, being a worker bee, didn't take to retirement and continued working at local daycares near Maple Valley for a number of years. Never shaking off that travel bug, she continued to travel with her husband, making multiple cross-country treks across the United States, visiting relatives on the east coast, and eventually visited every state in the union, with the curious exception of Oklahoma. Carol is survived by her beloved husband of 61 years, Ike Dore, her two sons Edward and Robert, granddaughters Sydney Patrick, Erin and Emma Dore, great-grandson William Patrick, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. |
