About | Phyllis was born in Biddeford, Maine, April 6, 1905. She was the daughter of Frank and Isabel (Ormsby) Morrell. She came to Winslow about 1913 and attended Winslow schools graduating from WHS in 1923. She attended Farmington State Normal School and started her teaching career at the East Winslow grammar school. She taught, for nearly forty years, in nearly all elementary schools in the town. For several years Phyllis served as principal of the Garand St. School. She married Wilbur Taylor, WHS 1924, on Dec. 6, 1933. For the last 85 years of her life she lived in her Beacon Street home in Winslow and while the last year of her life was spent in a Topsham nursing home she kept her residence in Winslow until her death on March 1, 1998 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Wilbur Taylor (WHS %u201824) her sister, Kathleen Morrell (WHS %u201929) and an infant brother Ralph who died in 1911. She was survived by her children Carlene (TAYLOR) LeMieux (WHS %u201949) and her son Douglas (WHS %u201959) five grand children, six great grand children and many cousins in Ireland. |
