HONSTEAD, MARCI LEIGH Marci Leigh Honstead passed away March 19, 2009, at her home in San Diego. She was 36. Marci earned her bachelor's degree from the University of Maryland; a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling from San Diego State University; and, she was a doctoral candidate in human rehabilitation at the University of Northern Colorado. Marci worked as a vocational rehabilitation counselor for a private consulting firm. She was a part-time professor for San Diego State University teaching graduate students in rehabilitation counseling. For over a decade, she volunteered at the Mission Bay Aquatic Center assisting people with disabilities in adapted aquatic activities. She loved working the Day on the Bay aquatic events as it gave her great joy to be with those who participated, as well as with those who worked year-after-year to make the event fun for all. Marci is survived by her parents John and Carole Honstead, her brother Bryce, her sister-in-law Nicole, her two nieces Maya and Zoey, and her longtime boyfriend Greg Cusick. Marci will be remembered as a gatherer of people. Through her love of life she was able to befriend and help many people, and in return she was loved and cared for by many. She is greatly missed. A Ceremony in Celebration of her Life was held March 23rd, at Christ Lutheran Church of Pacific Beach.
